What you notice

It will be 2 years in the Summer since my Father passed away. Although there is a sadness over his loss I will never lose, it is amazing that I can still look back over his life and how he raised me and continue to learn so much.

His overiding kindness is something I cling onto and try and act on constantly, there are so many examples of this, but I remembered one last night that made me smile:

My best friend AJ and I met up with my Dad in the Master Builder Pub near West End one weekend whilst we were both still at Uni. We were having a good evening, playing pool and getting merry and later in the night Dad noticed a guy on the table next to us, looking a bit dishelved, who had been sat on his own for most of the evening. Where most people would have steered clear and not gone anywhere near him, my Dad called over to him. He asked his name and if he was a Saints fan (the odds were high in those parts), turns out he was and Dad asked him to join us and if he wanted a pint as he was going to the bar.

He was a pleasant chap, I'm pretty sure his name was Bob, who had recently moved from a different part of Southampton and didn't have any friends or family locally. Bob stayed and chatted with us for a few drinks then went home. It was clear he was chuffed that someone paid him some attention and my Dad definitely made his night.

Such kind and simple thing to do. How many times would we all do the opposite? Bravo Dad.
